MUSIC FASHION ACTIVISM
Thérèse is colorful and elusive, nuanced and boundless. Loud discussions in three languages about the issues of freedom and coexistence, inclusive feminism, cultural or sexual identity and the concept of “individuation” take place in a tiled bathroom that is sonified with bass music.
Thérèse, a musician, creative director, stylist, a model with a purpose, speaker fervently committed, etches her tale of a myriad lives. In the likeness of her unconventional journey, her artistic endeavor unfolds free, impassioned, blended, embraced by the masses, yet demanding.
In March of 2021, “Rêvalité” unveiled its first emancipating EP, setting the score with the past, proclaiming desires through “T.O.X.I.C,” and embracing her manifold identity in “Chinoise?”.
These two singles, noted by Basique, Culture Box, Cstar, 20 minutes, the cover of Causette, and more… Led to a tour of some forty dates (including the MaMA Festival, Bars en Trans, FrancOff etc. and opening acts for Suzane, Yseult, and Irène Drésel at the Trianon, among others)
Two years later, marked by an enforced six-month hiatus, due to a hereditary ailment, a taboo of the industry she chose to break, Thérèse returns with a new EP, “metaREverse,” to question our futures and our relationship with the digital and virtual world. In this journey, where rap flow collide with hyperpop melodies, and experimental electronica, Thérèse delves deep into her own humanity. Celebrating her contradictions in “No Rules,” (still resonating on M6, Cstar, and MTV) a reflection she extends with singles like “Anthropocentric,” (addressing the inertia of comfort versus ecological disaster), and the recent “Toujours Trop,” exploring the paradox of time’s effect on the gaze of women (and those who identify as such) towards their bodies, inviting us to reshape our perspectives and love our bodies as they are.
Musically, she is now surrounded by producer Adam Carpels, the co-composer of the project, alongside Robin Florent on mixing, and Benjamin Joubert on mastering. As a synesthete, Thérèse places great importance on the visual realm, co-creating it with Charlie Montagut of Genial Pictures.
As a stylist and creative director, she collaborates with musicians ((Bilal Hassani, Sônge, Seb la Frite, Nayra, Lonepsi etc.), brands (such as Spotify, NUXE, and Bumble), and fashion or music institutions (like Sup de Pub, Casa93, CNM, Combo 95, and Zebrock). Her face graces the screens of music videos and series on Netflix, and features in campaigns for Gucci x Vogue UK, Savage x Fenty, Vinted, Undiz x Aya Nakamura, Palladium, Kickers, Ysé, and emerging designer brands she supports.
In parallel, she delves into the themes of freedom and living together, championing inclusive feminism, cultural identity, our relationship with our bodies, and the concept of “individuation.”
With a commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering collective reflection, her presence is felt in the media (Quotidien TMC, C l’hebdo, Loopsider etc.), on social platforms, at activist events, in concert halls and festivals (Transmusicales, MaMA, Bonjour Minuit, Le Flow), and within educational programs and cultural centers.
While each of these endeavors mutually nourishes one another, they primarily nourish the artist herself, fueling her purpose, her creations, and her desire to share them, to “move the heart and the body, to set the mind in motion. And vice versa.” In the wake of her second EP, “metaREverse,” Thérèse concludes the composition of her debut album, slated for spring 2024, and the accompanying performance, enriched by the ingredients gathered through new experiences and encounters along the way.
